duplicate ssh session

ydooW - Sat 11/10/2008 15:24:32 CEST +0200

Hello.
First of all, i'd like to thank you for such a cool project. I've found it out several days ago, and i really think that it's much better than Putty. But there is one feature i miss most of all. It's the duplication of current ssh session. If i click on a kitty's window, pressing ctrl+shift, it opens another kitty window, which asks for a login and password. But the SSH.com's old ssh client, could request a new ssh channel, and open another terminal window, without asking to login for the second time. Is it possible to incorporate such a feature in future? Or maybe it's already there?

Hi ydooW

The feature you ask for is not possible actually with KiTTY.
The best you can do is to save the pasword of your session in Connection/Data panel of the configuration box. With this saving, the connection will be automatic. No need to write it anymore.

Hi,

i know about password saving, but it\'s not i\'d like to do in this situation. But thanks for advice. Could you please exlain a little bit more detailed, why it\'s not possible? I just want to understand, what kind of limitation it is.

This is something that would make a great Google Summer of Code (SoC) project. Session sharing is part of the SSH specification and could probably be accomplished through use of named pipes on NT/XP/etc systems. For the OpenSSH client, I think that this is how it's accomplished. I wonder if KiTTY/*nix could make use of this at least.
