Flickering while redraw

BDX - Mon 27/09/2010 15:24:34 CEST +0200

I use irssi and in the bottom right corner there is a clock which updates itself every second (obviously lol). This causes flickering in other lines (usually just in one line) once in a while, usually in every 20 seconds. Other redraws causes this too. This isn't the worst bug but I'm wondering why KiTTY does it because e.g. PuTTY Tray with exactly the same settings works ok.

I've been using KiTTY as a terminal emulator on top of Cygwin. I also, notice a flicker, just one or two lines, every once in a while. None KiTTY windows on my screen don't flicker. This does not happen when using PuTTY-cyg instead of KiTTY. Maybe I'm hyper sensitive but find it very distracting when the screen flickers while I'm reading the tex ton the screen. Any information on how stop or limit this would be appreciated.

I notice the same problem, and it's not (apparently) on redraw (well, unless it's redrawing its window for no purpose), I have KiTTY as the foreground window and it flickers often enough to be annoying. This is on a plain WinXP box, no background image, and no other window managers or similar apps running.

I'm just sitting here at the moment with KiTTY as the foreground window, with input focus, and it flickers randomly. What you'd need to do is add some diagnostics to the message pump to see when redraw messages are being processed, and then get users who have the problem to send you the diagnostic output.
