False positive from AVG?
Ruden - Thu 03/03/2011 22:37:09 CET +0100
Very odd, just wanted to alert you that AVG virus scanner gave me what im very much assuming is a false positive on the file name kitty.exe im thinking it thinks its something else with the same file name..
might want to send AVG a note on that. Thanks Ruden - Mon 14/03/2011 22:05:07 CET +0100
Ya i dunno it was odd, AVG did an update for a day maybe that screwed up i think.. i even had downloaded a new copy to test with and my AVG locally didnt like kitty, assume automatically it was their fault not yours ;) its happened before for other apps. few days later it decided my original copy and the new downloaded one were fine.

The main reason for this is that KiTTY uses UPX. This makes it seem like potential malware to scanners (UPX isn't so bad, but some UPX-derived packers are used by 100% malware and 0% by legit apps, so will always be flagged as malware). To reduce the false positives in the future, don't use a packer for it.

Could you please make a version of KiTTY_portable.exe available that is not packed ? This way it'll prevent this issue from happening and you can more easily run this brilliant software from the corporate office.
