Auto-reconnect causes account lockout
Dave - Wed 06/04/2011 07:00:50 CEST +0200
KiTTY's auto-reconnect feature is quite nice, but the way it's implemented makes it rather dangerous, if it can't reconnect then it just sits there in a loop repeatedly trying to reconnect, forever. If your site is using tcp wrappers or an IDS, you end up getting locked out. KiTTY should have a failsafe timer where, if (say) two consecutive reconnect attempts fail with the same error, it either gives up or introduces a much longer delay before retrying. The way it's done at the moment makes it too risky to use because of it triggering account lockouts.

Get this build: http://www.9bis.net/kitty/data/beta/kitty.exe
The delay increase each time (* 2). Tell me Dave - Thu 07/04/2011 07:28:18 CEST +0200
Thanks. Does it also limit the retries? I'm rather nervous about getting locked out again...
