Crash randomly while scrolling/selecting
nullifi - Tue 17/09/2013 15:12:24 CEST +0200
I have a fresh install of KiTTY that seems to crash frequently, but randomly. It appears to only crash if I am scrolling or selecting text, but not every time I scroll or select text. Is this a known issue?
Cyd - Tue 17/09/2013 15:18:53 CEST +0200
Yes, I got this issue too.
But as you said, randomly ! I was not able to reproduce the case yet. So I can't fix it. I really need help ! PabloVL - Tue 01/10/2013 08:44:20 CEST +0200
I have the same issue. :(
Cyd - Tue 01/10/2013 10:06:52 CEST +0200
I did not find yet !
Do you use logging feature ? If yes, can you send me your settings. john - Sun 06/10/2013 21:49:33 CEST +0200
Same issue here (few times a day at least). If you need any logs or settings, just let me know. Is there any way kitty/putty can be set in debug mode?

Have faced the crashing problem many times in last 4-5 days.I have earlier increased the scrollback from default value to a large value(I normally clear scrollbacks manually as and when needed). I presume that when reaches the scroolback limit it crashes. Additionally I noted when I reset the scrollback option to "9999999999"(i usually set this value in Putty and it works beatifully), it does accept the value , but internally stores to a different value(Sometimes negative even). Would love to getthis fixed as I absolutely love it.

Can you try to disable hyperlink features ?
Add hyperlink=no to the KiTTY section of your kitty.ini file. And tell me. Leo - Thu 10/10/2013 17:18:42 CEST +0200
I've disabled the hyperlink patch. After massive uses there is no more crash ... up to now.
It seems the issue is finally located. Many thanks. dainichi - Mon 07/07/2014 09:17:55 CEST +0200
For me it's random too, but I've found a sure way to reproduce it. I make sure there's a couple of screenfuls in the buffer, then I scroll all the way to the top and try to select something. APPCRASH, "works" every time. hyperlink=no doesn't help me.

Please send me a memory dump (http://kitty.9bis.com?page=Savedump) just before it crash.

Just updated to 0.63.1.1p, same issue.
Hid3 - Mon 18/08/2014 10:08:31 CEST +0200
Hello.
Same problem here, even with the latest version 0.63.1.1p. Please fix this ASAP, it's in fact impossible to work when need to select backlog text! Crashes 100% of cases when the scroll history is full. Hyperlink=no does NOT help. Thanks! Cyd - Mon 18/08/2014 13:38:09 CEST +0200
I'm sorry, but I've never notice this behavior yet.
I need to get more information: Windows version, 32 or 64 bits, Putty settings ... Please can someone send me a memory dump (how to is just few messages above) just before the crash ? Thanks. Manuel - Thu 21/08/2014 01:42:52 CEST +0200
Hi Cyd, I am facing the same issue.
Will try to send you the dump in a while. Where should I send the same? Also, 1 hint. When I try to select text by clicking once only and drag, it crashes. When I start the selection by a double-click (like when you try to select a word) it doesn't crash. Manuel - Thu 21/08/2014 01:54:17 CEST +0200
Hi Cyd, I have the dump with me. Please let me know how to send it over to you (I don't see any "upload" functionality in the forum...)
Many Thanks... Manuel - Sun 24/08/2014 23:53:57 CEST +0200
Sent you the dump. Let me know if you need anything else...
Hid3 - Mon 25/08/2014 12:30:10 CEST +0200
Mine crashes on 32 bit Win7 (haven't tested on x64).
Not sure how to do the dump. Also, is there any way to export all current settings so that I could share them? Cyd - Mon 25/08/2014 14:40:10 CEST +0200
Can you precise if you use
- Classic KiTTY - Classic KiTTY with portable mode setting - pre-compiled portable KiTTY Have you enable hyperlink patch, background image patch, transparency patch (see kitty.ini file) ? Jazzy - Tue 26/08/2014 07:34:50 CEST +0200
Win7 / 32 bit + pre-compiled portable KiTTY
How to reproduce (cisco router for me): - Connect to host - show startup-config - scroll up, try select text - crash After "hyperlink=no" no more crash Manuel - Sat 06/09/2014 05:44:19 CEST +0200
Cyd, tested the dump you sent me and it works perfectly now.
Many Thanks!!!! Answer |
