Icon and kscp issues

baribal - Wed 02/07/2014 10:50:55 CEST +0200

Hi All,

I have two issues with the last release: I can't disable the football icon even when I set "icon=no" in kitty.ini. Another issue is kscp file transfer is not working:

Looking up host "XXX"
Connecting to XXX port 22
Server version: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.3
Using SSH protocol version 2
We claim version: SSH-2.0-PuTTY_KiTTY
Doing Diffie-Hellman group exchange
Doing Diffie-Hellman key exchange with hash SHA-256
Host key fingerprint is:
ssh-rsa 2048 c7:e2:4e:92:be:29:69:83:4b:d6:fe:53:0c:fd:9a:c8
Initialised AES-256 SDCTR client->server encryption
Initialised HMAC-SHA-256 client->server MAC algorithm
Initialised AES-256 SDCTR server->client encryption
Initialised HMAC-SHA-256 server->client MAC algorithm
Pageant is running. Requesting keys.
Pageant has 3 SSH-2 keys
Using username "root".
Trying Pageant key #0
Server refused our key
Trying Pageant key #1
Authenticating with public key "XXX" from agent
Sending Pageant's response
Access granted
Opening session as main channel
Opened main channel
Started a shell/command
Using SFTP
Connected to XXX

After nothing after that. PSCP working just fine in this case.

Also I have "send with pscp" menu grayed out even if I have pscppath option set correctly in kitty.ini

Please advise and thanks in advance.

Get the very last beta to avoid icon "egg": http://www.9bis.net/kitty/data/beta/kitty.exe
About pscp, I can't help you with this little information. I need more info concerning your configuration to find what's wrong with you.
The only think that is strange for me is the line "Using SFTP", it shouldn't with pscp !!
Can you send me a memory dump (http://www.9bis.net/kitty/?page=Savedump) ?

PSCP is grayed out in my configuration, too. I tried on a Windows XP and two Windows 8 machines.
In registry mode, pscp is recognized as desired, however, with "savemode=dir" pscp stays deactivated, no matter if it's available or not. Switching back to registry it's immediately available again.
So I don't think you'll need a memory dump, just switching to portable should trigger this bug.

This bug also occurs both with specifying PSCPPath in kitty.ini and without specifying (when it's installed on the system).

Best regards

Fix in next release.
Get the beta to test: https://www.9bis.net/kitty/data/beta/kitty_portable.exe

Thanks a lot, seems to work now :)

However I found a new bug in this beta. My current kitty.ini contains amongst others these two lines:
iconfile=kitty.exe
numberoficons=45

Kitty first starts normally, but when I try to start a session I get this rather strange error message:

KiTTY Error

Unable to open connection to
123.45.67.89
Network error: Windows error code 10106 (and FormatMessage returned 234)

OK

Maybe these settings should be checked at start and ignored if they are faulty. Or just a better error message would be a good idea, too, so users can fix it by themselfes more easily.

Best regards

It works fine on my side
I'm sorry, but I think there is no link with icons settings.

Well, I tested it on my Win8 machine again and now it's running fine, too.

However, yesterday I tried it multiple times and each time these lines weren't commented out the exception was raised. When I removed these lines the error was gone and it worked fine again. Maybe there's another factor which causes this message, but it's definitly somehow bound to the icon settings. The tests were done on a XP machine, so maybe it's a OS dependant error?

But it's running fine for me right now, just wanted to let you know about this error ;)

Cheers

I still cannot get rid of the soccer icon on win7 taskbar - tried versions 0.63.1.1, 0.63.0.8, those betas above. Wonder if there is any way to fix it. Thanks.

PSCP is still grayed out with latest beta and correct config.

checked with older version:
works with 0.63.0.7, broken from 0.63.0.8 version
