restore question

I have been using Kitty for about a year now and I really like it. I had to restore my PC to default. Before I did I saved the Kitty sessions. The file is kitty.sav The site I learned of this said that when kitty was run again from an install the file would be generated again, but I could replace the file with the one I saved and I would have all my sessions restored. The downloaded versions of Kitty do not install so I don' tknow what to do. Can someone comment on how I can restore my settings?

kitty.sav is simply a .reg registry file.
Rename it in kitty.reg, then double click.
