remote port forwarding with multiple sessions
Ryan - Fri 01/04/2016 20:49:45 CEST +0200
I am using remote port forwarding to access a machine on my local network from the server that I'm ssh'ing into. All works as expected if I create 2 separate KiTTY sessions to this server, but if I disconnect from the 1st session, then the port forwarding no longer works from the 2nd session. I have to close that 2nd session and reconnect to have the port forwarding work again. Is there a way to have the port forwarding detect this scenario and allow it to work from the 2nd session when the 1st disconnects?
Thanks for your help. Ryan Bastien - Wed 07/03/2018 16:52:12 CET +0100
hey i'm having exactly the same issue here except that me it's when my connection fail and it automatically try to reconnect to it it would be able to but then the port forwarding is saying refused if either i restart the vps or wait a while it would work just fine by reconnecting i'm looking forward to you to see if you found any solution thanks

Hi,
I feel the problem is that: PuTTY (and KiTTY) not checks the -listening- socket before opening it. So when it's already used, the second binding doesn't work. So the solution can be check it before opening it. And if it's in use, mark it in the IU as grey (that's "configured but not used"). I hope it helps. Answer |
