Kitty Portable and Windows 7 Jump List

hansdg1 - Wed 02/11/2016 17:48:17 CET +0100

Hi, I am using the latest Kitty portable (0.67.3.1). I am using Keepass (with plugin Keeagent) instead of kageant.

For the most part everything is working. I cannot connect to one of my servers directly, so I have Kitty setup to use another server as a proxy. If I open Kitty, select the saved session, and click open or start, it works. To make connecting to servers easier, I pinned the Kitty icon to my Windows 7 taskbar. If I right click on the pinned icon, I can see the Jump List, which contains the saved sessions from my Kitty portable installation. Most of them work just fine, but the one I mentioned earlier that uses the proxy does not. Like I said earlier, it works fine if I connect to it from the Kitty gui.

The error message that I get is "Incoming packet was garbled on decryption". Here is the output of the Event Log http://www.hastebin.com/pikuyuzewo.vbs.

Based on the output of the Event Log, it appears that when launched from the Jump List, Kitty portable is mistakenly trying to look to the Windows registry to see if the fingerprint is trusted.

To confirm this theory, I downloaded and launched a non-portable version of Kitty and configured it the exact same as I had the portable one. When I ran it for the first time, as I expected, I got a popup asking me if I trusted the fingerprint. I clicked yes, and it connected fine. I then checked the registry just to be sure that it had written successfully to the SshHostKeys key, and it did.

Now, back to Kitty portable. To confirm my earlier theory that when I attempted to connect to a server using the Windows 7 Jump List, I tried it again, and now it worked. Now to be absolutely certain, I deleted the new registry value from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Softwarebis.com\KiTTY\SshHostKeys, and it started failing again.

Hello, I am still having this issue. Is there anything that can be done to troubleshoot this more?
