encrypting auto-login passwords.
john - Tue 19/09/2017 14:38:04 CEST +0200
Hi, I use kitty because it can save passwords - great when you have hundreds of sites defined.
It would be good to have these passwords encrypted. I saw this info: "You can also encrypt this file and protect it with a password. To protect the file, open any session and open the special command input box by pressing the CTRL+F8 keys. Then type /configpassword followed by the password." I am confused. If I am opening a session where I have defined the auto-login password already what is this command doing? Do I have to enter the auto-login password, or a new password to protect the auto-login password? If the latter, why would I want to do this per session - I would want to set a global password for all sessions? Also, does it make any difference if I am using file based or registry based config? I.e. is the password stored encrypted which ever I use? Any help appreciated. I love kitty! Cyd - Tue 19/09/2017 14:53:51 CEST +0200
Yes the password settings is encrypted in every saved session settings file.
