Kitty doesn't reconnect after server reboots

I've configured kitty to automatically reconnect to a telnet server, enabled SO_KEEPALIVE, and set the null packet keepalive interval to 5 seconds.

It doesn't seem to work: when I reboot the server, kitty doesn't automatically reconnect. The winodw just sits there showing that last output from the server before it rebooted.

It will reconnect if I hit a key.

I've captured traffic to the server port, and I don't see kitty sending any null kepalive packets.

How do I configure kitty to automatically reconnect after a server reboots?
